https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=io4RmJQZEBEYukkuri Short #1. Easygoing Voice (2018.09.14)-- DESCRIPTION --A voice actress lends her talent.Baldough VA. Senjou (?) SanaeIt's been video after video since then, thank you for all of the views and support.-- WHINING --I know the subtitles don't actually work, if someone could help me know in how many areas I'm going wrong, that'd be great. The general documentation on .ass formatting is abysmal (I found a very helpful .doc file here http://moodub.free.fr/video/ass-specs.doc though). I had to install a program that was way to big to rip some from a file I happened to have just to figure out how timing worked. It'd be nice if I could figure out how to append a bit of text and then make the entire line disappear (to minimise duplicated text, see file), but the answer would probably annoy me if I learned it anyway. Are mpv's timestamps actually correct? I was trying to figure out a way to do frame-by-frame timing, but apparently that'll never be accurate so I just had to keep pausing and rely on second-by-second precision instead.
I'm not exactly sure what this thread is about but I'll answer anyways.>>2To edit subtitles you should be really using applications designed for that rather than editing plaintext (which from your description seems you are doing). Check out Aegisub or SubtitleEdit. The two will greatly ease your work, though I prefer the former.Substation Alpha works in 10ms increments so frame timing is impossible in most cases. Though it shouldn't be hard to place the titles according to scenecuts. Additionally, because Youtube doesn't accept ASS files you'll have to export to some other format, e.g. srt, which can result in slightly different timing due to format specific rounding. You can ask more if you want.
ASS is ass anyway, I made a VTT version. Also going to re-format it in TTML to see whether I like it better and give myself another standard to yell at people to add support for.
>00:08.000 --> 00:19.000>This is an <b>Easygoing</b> Place.>>00:11.000 --> 00:19.000>As always, there are many <b>yukkuri</b> going about their day and <b>taking it easy</b> in their own way. That was much simpler than I thought it'd be. Kicking myself for not trying it earlier. I don't like how mpv puts the new ones on top rather than below, though.
I think should be able to get rid of the .000 bits as well, but mpv doesn't like that.
TTML isn't that great, I won't bother with it in the future. Episode 2 coming soon.

>>1can i mirror your subs to https://nopromises-s.gitlab.io/?
>>14I guess it ought to go somewhere. If I keep writing it, I can't dedicate it to 4taba anymore. What does the name mean, and what does it mean if it's part of that group? I never really figured out how gitlab's weird javascript interface works.
oh, better bump
Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of Gitlab's reliance on JavaScript either. 'NoPromises' is the name i came up with for my one-person translation group (I had to call it something). The repositories that belong to `nopromises-s` are different series. I'm not pressuring you to officially join my group, but I want to give your work a second home. It's probably easier to manage than imageboard posts as well.
Sure, feel free. I made a Gitlab account, so I'll see whether I can continue there.
>>18Cool. The repository is at https://gitlab.com/nopromises-s/yukkurigaya. There's a "request access" link that shows up near the top of the page when you are logged in. Apparently it lets you become a member of the project.
Turns out, on NicoNico, there's videos going way back to 2015.
