What boards do you want in the menus?I picked a bunch when I first made the site just to have something to work with while setting everything up.If you want to suggest merging boards together keep in mind that manually combining boards is also an option, >>/a+ma/ for example.
>>14I do of course, but I try not to respond to everything otherwise I'd be the most dominant voice on the site, and I don't think I'm that interesting.
>>15how much user info do you have access to?can you see the IP or location of each poster?what about lurkers?
>>17Actually that 13,000 is probably page requests. 167 is the number of unique visitors in the last 24 hours, but that's still probably mostly bots.
>>16The only thing saved right now is the IP of posts which is needed to make the "Del" button and bans work. Also, I technically "have access" to country information too, since I think cloudflare sends it in a header, but it's not being used or saved anywhere.Other than that cloudflare builds statistics about country percentage, unique visitors, and type of requests. But we have like 13,000 unique visitors according to them so that's probably not useful information since it's all bots, and the most dominant request is "empty" which makes up 57.7% of the traffic.I'll probably add a unique poster count at some point.
>>1Make a /poe/ board for poetry, specifically creepy stuff like Edgar Allan Poe.
allowing users to make boards is a mistake
How do I make a board?
everything about this site is perfect
everything about that image is photoshopped
I can make my own boards?
Add ==RED TEXT== and it would.
It is okay, I guess.
make a nicer css
>>36>>40Oh shit, I just realized that post with huge text in the middle of the page.I don't get anything like that browsing on a desktop. Does this just effect mobile users? If so then who really cares
>>35It's way less than 4chan though isn't it?
>>41>who really caresw-wew?
I think the header in the navigator could use a little work. The logo looks a tad awkward by itself at the very top. Maybe also change the page selector so it's not just plain text. Otherwise, I really don't have any problems with the current look of the site.
Make it look like a Gopher site, all plaintext!
Can you please ban ironic shitposting on all titled boards?[s4s] is getting out of control.
This is what you get for spamming the site on /qa/.
>spammingI didn't do any spamming.Did you do any spamming?I haven't seen any.
I was exaggerating, but I did see 4taba being mentioned sometimes.
I agree. But also, you have to go back.
So we basically have a 9-5 chan. People only post during the weekdays, and only during the day North American time.
>>10You forgot to include 5
>>10bye
I open up the site and check All every few hours or so. If I see a thread that tickles my fancy I'll reply.
>>12You're back to work Monday at 9, though
>>3>>5>>10https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwDMFOLIHxU
I feel like this would bring a lot of small, non-shitposty groups to the site.
I'm against enforcing any kind of rule but the two global ones. Moot's mentality of having a board for every little thing and having them micromanaged hurt the site, or at least the boards I browsed.
>>5That's more or less my thoughts too.I'm not sure if most people coming here now realize that this site currently has an OP moderation feature. (He can hide images/posts but not delete anything so anyone can still expand the hidden posts and view them)My plan so far is to basically only loosely moderate the OP topic when a thread is made. As long as the OP is somewhat related to the board or relevant to its users then it would be fine and any posts inside threads can be moderated by the OP himself (other than the global rules of course). If he wants to let people talk about something completely unrelated in his thread then that's his decision.
> this site currently has an OP moderation featureReally? When did that happen? Will the feature only apply to threads created since you enabled this? I just checked a couple threads that I have started and I don't see any option for that.
>>7It's always been there. It uses a password but you should already have an auto-generated one in the password field when you created the thread and it should be remembered by your browser so you don't have to remember it.Just go to the thread and click the "Thread Tools" button in the top right and click "On". That should place extra links inside each post that you can use if the password is correct.
Someone should create /vex/ for flags, or some sort of general purpose "symbolism" board for heraldry, seals, flags, mon, and the like.
we should add flagsthis is my 4chan collection
>>4Is this a meme?
Utterly unnecessary. If your nationality is ever relevant to the conversation, you can disclose it, just like people do with any personal detail about themselves. Also destructive. The effect that flags have on anonymity on 4chan is bad enough; on a small site like this every non-burger would effectively have an avatar attached to their every post.
Also why add that to a place that lets you use proxies and tor lol
fuck off, you tool
>>1Only if the flags are original content. United Nations recognized flags are boring.
You should ban politics.nobody using a chan site is smart enough to carry on an intelegent discussion about politics, my self included, with most threads ending up as alt-right circle jerks eerily similar to the liberal circle jerk on reddit
Do you really think banning it is necessary? My plan was just to never make it an official board. If people want to use the "untitled boards" for it then I wasn't going to stop them.
>>2I've been around long enough to know that if you don't ban politics, people will eventually start using your site as a soap box.I'm basing this off of my experience with lulz.net (yes, I'm a furfag, sorry about that)It was originally just 4chan for furries, but as imageboards started turning in to refugee camps for stormfags that were b& from other sites, lulz quickly devolved into yet another neo-nazi circle jerk.
>>2>>3It's anecdotal, but pretty true. They infect every subject and board, making things politicized even when they aren't. However, banning politics before we've seen anything develop is a bit too hurried. Just see how the general feel of the site develops before banning subjects willy-nilly.
>>4The problem is that everything is always already politicized. Anything that doesn't seem political is actually part of the unexamined background assumptions of your ideology.
add そうだね's like on 2chan
I wouldn't want it, it's not as useful as replying with "Wow, this was an informative and fun post!"
>>22Hope you aren't using the main subreddits since those are pure cancer
>>26Nah just the ones relevant to my interests.
I dont really want this to be added since its not like this is a problem here, but this wouldnt really be like ribbit upboot if it was. Its just an 'upvote' on an anonymous post with no corresponding downvote. It doesnt encourage attention whoring any more than certain people already get a thrill when someone replies to them at all, since its not attached to any permenant account, and theres no way to dogpile a post into being hidden either. Its superficially similar but the mechanics are different.
It's not useful because:1. THIS ISN'T FUTABA.2. WE DON'T HAVE PEOPLE MAKING REDUNDANT POSTS THAT COULD EASILY BE REPLACED WITH SUCH A BUTTON.
Taba-tan, you mentioned at the end of last year that you were working on another site. Are you still working on it or did you already post it?
No, I decided to just take a few ideas from the one I was working on and put them here instead (like this one for instance that I'm still working on adding: https://4taba.net/res/dat/example). I'm done making new sites, so this will be my only one from now on.Even if I want to try out some radically different thing I could always just make a board for them here, or just link to a different page on the same server.
http://4taba.net/res/dat/contactThe contact page is dead!
https://4taba.net/res/dat/contactENI guess some of the pages need to be fixed
>>2Thank you!
The Contact link at the bottom of [Rules] [F.A.Q] [Watcher] [Settings] still needs to be changed to include that EN at the end. Just saying in case you forgot.
taba-taaaaanThere's no PTR records for the two IP addresses in the A records for 4taba.net and www.4taba.net! Also, where are the AAAA records?I'm just nitpicking on domain name stuff, but consider looking into it. If there are reasons why you haven't done these things, I'm simply curious to know.
Thanks for pointing this out. There's no reason for it other than me being new to this I guess. I'll look into it.
Man, that spooked me. When 4taba was down, that is.
Hikkichan is down for good. RIP
The domain seemed to had expired.
I was scared too.
>>2So it is. I'm always sad to see a board go. They die so fast. No longer will you be disparagingly compared to your predecessor on AnonIB. RIP.
Could 4taba ever get an oekaki board? I think it might be cool.Is it hard to put in a function like that?
Yeah, there was an oekaki app that you could use on any board to postIt was removed because >>/meta/14/3Also the feature mentioned in the OP of that thread was removed too
>one reason is I realized there's no way to detect someone sending any normal image to the server as if it were oekakiEh? So the system couldn't tell if the image was done with the app or not?
>>4Assuming you didn't go out of your way to try and fool the system then it can tell the difference. But ultimately it's just data sent from your computer. If someone knows what they're doing they can spoof the image. It's the same on any site that has oekaki. As far as I can tell the main defense against it is to just have a much smaller filesize limit on oekaki, because most things people draw are going to be fairly simple while a full blown photograph of something will be too large and get dropped. So it just makes you wonder what's the point. It always seemed like the novelty of oekaki was that you knew someone just drew something fresh with their own hand using simple tools, but if you can't really know then there's no point having the app on the site itself, might as well just open up your favorite paint program and upload it that way.But like I said in that other thread, if people want it we could always put it back I guess. Although I wonder if maybe we could do something more interesting to make it worthwhile, like the ability to use someone else's image as a background for your oekaki so you're drawing on top of it.
>>5Well, I would like it. I hope I'm not the only one. Some of the oekaki programs I've seen let you open files and some have layers so the background thing seems doable.
On 4chan I most often use the oekaki app not to draw art, but to circle or point to things in existing images, such as from someone else's post, or an external URL, or a screenshot. It's stuff that I could do in an external editor, but it's more convenient to just do it on the site. It would be even more useful if it had a cropping function.
