Realism should stay in fine art. The style is too complex and cluttered to work for the more descriptive mediums of illustration and animation, and trying to compromise with semi-realism a-la American comics just results in the worst of both worlds, having neither the rich detail and vividness of realism, nor the clarity and flexibility of abstraction.
What loomis book should I start with? I want to get better at drawing people without reference.
