Why does the bot post broken links to some empty wordpress full of lorem ipsum where you can't even buy the drugs.
What purpose does it have?

no idea... it's the strangest thing
»
3 guest@cc 2022-06-18T05:28:16
tbh, I think it's website harrassment
These things started becoming an issue a few days into the Russian invasion of Ukraine so it might be cyber attacks to cause grief to English websites.

Every spampost seems to be the same, how hard would it be to just reject posts that look like that?
»
5 guest@cc 2022-06-19T05:28:36
hard because i put in zero effort

Would this work? I can't test it. All the test directories are empty.

Why did that upload as 404 instead of just erroring out...
»
8 guest@cc 2022-06-20T03:16:51
uploads are served through NGINX and my rules probably not permitting it

your code produces a huge syntax error. Trying to resolve it reminded me how much I don't like lisp syntax.

wish I could just swap out the internals of this imageboard engine to what I'm developing but the pages here are GPL3 and I'm not going to let people I don't like using my software for free.

Wow, that's embarrassing! No idea how I ended up with unbalanced parenthesis, I was even using paredit.

well anyways. I have the code. If the url bot decides it's time to spam again I'll look into the bug a bit harder.
<a href="https://spam.com">spam</a>;

It probably should run on the un-encoded string. Maybe it will work this time...

guest@cc 2022-06-21T20:37:22
feeling sad for the bot owner
»
16 guest@cc 2022-06-22T08:45:43
the bots are typically from servers infected with malware. maybe the owner doesn't even look at his spam operation anymore and just sends out occasional orders from a hidden service.

Is it just spamming this chan in particular? If so then that's just annoying.

19 guest@cc 2022-06-22T19:57:16
It's adapting.

no, this is just another one of the patterns.

No, see >>16
It searches the internet for post forms and then it places in data and sends it.

looks as if keeping some CloudFlare verification going would be helpful. Normally with it off there would be a page of spam

Seems like it stopped not just the spam, but also everyone else from posting.

The irony of communities is that any type of activity drives new activity. Kind of already knew the theory on Kissu but the complete silence after removing spam makes posting seem less welcome
»
29 guest@cc 2022-07-14T22:10:47
>>28
Do you mean people will comment on spam, thus driving new activity which will then drive activity to THAT activity?
Well, it couldn't hurt I suppose, as long as the spam isn't terribly harmful, but it's usually a great annoyance

No, I mean the awkward silence means people feel like there's silence to be broken. Breaking the silence is a mental hurdle that makes it harder to post
