How do I learn to get into programming? Is there a book to read?

I originally learnt with AP computer science, to which there's no official book, but there are official syllabi.

You can learn Java just by working on the links at the tops of the lists.
However, I've forgotten Java as I only use one language often now: C.
It does have a book. The C Programming Language, second edition, by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie. It assumes you can already program, though. Just not in C.
The languages I see people recommend as a first language are Java, Python, and Scheme.

Just by doing it. If you don't like it you can stop at any moment.

I didn't expect SICP to teach me about Euclid and Chinese mathematicians. Fun.
