What are you going to do when support gets cut?

Nothing.

I'll probably see more rage from the win10 remorse crew than usual, though.

I refuse to switch to anything post-Windows 7, so nothing. Linux is useless to me.

Because VN compatability or something?
You're probably going to have to learn it at some point, or else start running win10 or mac on the side.

Keep using OpenBSD.

Yes, basically.

Why not use 8.1?

Hopefully ReactOS will become usable at some point. Microsoft will probobly release the source in twenty years anyway, like they did with DOS.

Switch to a good OS, or 8.1 if there are some newer games I want to play.

If they haven't released XP why would they release 7.

That's how they get you. "Incentivize" publishers to force newest DirectX into their new games as a requirement, force hardware manufacturers to stop developing drivers for older versions and then suddenly, for some inexplicable reason more and more people start moving to the newer Windows, no matter its quality.
The only reason I moved to 7 from XP is because 64-bit XP was shit at backwards compatibility and I didn't care enough for trying 2003 Server after 7 demo working well enough.

That's capitalism.

And yet anti-monopoly bureaus are a fairly common thing in the world. Not to mention that MS has been known for shady or outright illegal practices when it comes to "incentivizing". If they were competing fairly it wouldn't have been a problem. I'm not saying they are the literal spawn of Satan, but mere competition and protection of investments and/or properties is not a sufficient defense of their MO.

It hasn't been 20 years since XP end of service.

By that time I'll probably play around with some other OS.
