It feels like, over the course of the 2010s, people forgot what moderation is. I want a fun site where you can post nonsense, but still have a semi-serious discussion between the funposting. I think this is because they have.
Binging on content, excessively consuming, and acting in the most extreme way one can for irony points is seen as normal now on the internet, and people get up in arms if there's any sort of thought that one should control/moderate themselves.
I'm for making posts I like more than complaining about them, but I can completely understand where you're coming from. People are expected to take whatever they do to a ridiculous extremes and it can be tiring to witness.

I'm not going to say I completely understand/agree with moderation being the cause of what OP is talking about.
But I do agree there is a problem with moderation, and in my opinion the problem is that most mods are moderating content and not moderating users.

They think their goal is to keep a nice clean shiny board, but I say that's not what it's about.
Boards should be dirty (meaning they should be allowed to have some stuff which bends the rules from time to time), and what the mods should be focused on is keeping the primary userbase happy and that's it.
For example: A mod should NOT ask:

What they should be asking is:
>are anime fans interested in this? Is this disruptive to the discussion of anime?
Unfortunately I think too many mods today (especially on sites that get very big like 4chan) do too much of the former rather than the latter.

I think the ultimate core problem of sites like 4chan has definitely been faulty moderation, however the cancer - and this is the case for 4chan especially - has already spread so far that actual moderation won't cut it anymore because the site now is almost exclusively populated by those who care for le epic memes more than for actual discussion. That's how I see it, anyway.
Just look at Global Rule #3 and the board rules for /v/, for example, it says it all right there: No off-topic garbage, no flamewars - the entire board basically revolves around breaking those rules and no one cares because low quality garbage has become the identity of it. If the rules were to be enforced now, after more than a decade of shitposting being daily fare, everyone would most likely flip their shit.

I think there's been a bit of a misunderstanding concerning "moderation", or at least >>10 misunderstood.

The examples used indicate a more personal form of moderation, where the user themselves decides when to push their communication to extremes, and when they can hold back. Thus why people binge watching TV shows were mentioned, a act purely displaying lack of personal moderation.

Though concerning outward moderation, enacted by chosen individuals, I'm actually hoping the site can keep going along without it. As cheesy as it may be to say this, I do want to see Taba-san's ideal to flourish, where people can use a board alongside those that, while they disagree or don't share hobbies with them, are considerate enough to just let each other be rather than get up in arms about it. I'm personally not a fan of Loli porn, but I often prefer to just overlook it on /all/ because of the previous statement, in addition to not wanting to get all high-and-mighty on people.
In addition, another reason why I hope this site can continue for a time without moderation is because the absolute need for executive action is a good indicator that the Internet Barbarians (often a hoard of teenagers) have arrived, and things are about to go south really fast. As in, 4taba is about to becomes a Nazi recruitment site, a Bizarre Moe-Moe death cult (Ironically, of course), a child abuse ring, or worst of all, /facebook/. If any of that stuff happens, older regulars would be jumping ship well before the problems were fixed.

Last note, I know most Anons here do come from 4chan, as do I, but I do hope 4taba gains an identity away from being 4chan for malcontents. I think the software available can create a uniquely comforting atmosphere. It would be a shame for 4taba to remain in 4chan's shadow.

Very great and interesting point, I somehow never looked at it like that.
I recently got annoyed at some of the newer posts on /all/ as well and was even considering to mildly spitepost, but decided it would be unreasonable because they all were contained in their dedicated threads. I'm just scared of losing yet another site to browse and easily get distressed about posts which remind me of places that have already gone up in smoke. That is one of the many reasons I also fully agree with what you said about 4taba hopefully gaining its own identity, because comparing it to 4chan and other sites can be risky and negatively influence your posting behavior and how you treat 4tanons.

Coming back to the whole "letting eachother be" thing: I think it can be really difficult to decide what to let slide and what not to, though. For example I think that Discord is a death sentence for small communities more often than not, however I'm not entirely sure if it's fair to disallow a group of interested anons to get in contact in private. I haven't seen this be a problem on here yet (thankfully), but still it's something that's on my mind.

I can't speak for others, but I've always known where that line in the sand lies for me.
It's right between things which are motivated by real world concerns and things which aren't.
I am surprisingly lenient when it comes to almost any offense and can laugh at even the worst spam/shitposting/whatever as long as it isn't real world centric.
But it's the opposite extreme for things which are, I cannot fucking stand seeing them.
