I don’t know about him, but I didn’t learn how until middle school. I can barely ride a bike even today.

Oh I thought it was sort-of mandatory for kids to learn that. At least where I'm from the only kids that can't ride are disabled. School trips in primary school are often done on bicycle too.

Depends on where you live, and not just what country you live in, but what area you live in in that country. I'm American, and where I grew up we had a bicycle safty camp that everyone sent their kids to so they could learn to ride their bikes properly. I moved to a different part of the country when I grew up and where I live now there's nothing of the sort
