Former owner here. The basic idea when it started as to be like a sandbox for testing imageboard ideas. Like people always come up with interesting ideas but they don't go through the trouble of setting up a whole site just to test it. So 4taba was going to be the place that would add your idea and see what it was like in action.

In the back of my mind I planned on purging/breaking threads all the time and didn't think anyone would care, but people really didn't like it when data was lost, so I started trying to preserve threads while also adding features and that made it too difficult so to make things easier on me I kind of tried to slide the site into being stable, but then I was doing exactly what I didn't want to do, just hosting a real site. I even said about 4 or 5 times when the site first started that I don't want to be hosting a real site right now.
But I still like this place. Most of the weird testing features were removed long ago, and if it's just going to be a stable site then I'm happier this way with someone else having to make the moderation decisions.
