Let's talk about vidya.
What games do you like? My favorites include Valve stuff, like TF2, HL1, L4D2, the Portals, etc, as well as Nintendo stuff.

tf2, I guess portal though few people still play it

For me games are generally only worthwhile if I can get completely invested in the world, which leads to some shameful, godawful opinions like Morrowind > Dark Souls. DS is far more creative in every way and is of far superior quality, but because of all the deaths and the fact that the levels are designed to facilitate encounters, when I play it I feel like a guy playing a video game instead of a wary knight trekking through Lordran. I expect I'd really like DnD if I ever got the chance to play it and was expunged of inhibition.
Has anyone here tried making their own vidya? I'm working on something now, 99% of my progress so far has been neat ideas and petty world building, but I'm sure that when I'm done it will be flawless and I will be a rich, rich man.

I'm just an ideas guy. I have tons of ideas for stuff like extra features in games I like and even a few original ideas, but I can't actually make anything.

I'm really into the Megaman series, and all the subseries, also Shin Megami Tensei and Persona. Been playing Persona 1 for the PS1, but it's kind of a drag at points.

Just killed Gyoubu Oniwa. It was a really cool fight, but I didn't realize there would be a dumbass quicktime event at the end that brings him back to life unless you press R1.

Just beat the first Marathon a few days ago, and I'm feeling good about it.

-This game feel WAY ahead of its time. Despite having little experience with FPS games, I was able to hop in and play with little adjustment.
-That said, some of the level design choices weren't all to my taste. There were way too many tight corridors, and I could do without the stages that use lava floors you have to run on.
-Despite being so primitive, the game has a surprising amount of atmosphere to it. I know I got shocked by enemies like the invisible compilers on G4 Sunbathing.
-I really like how they told their story. This is another bit where the game feels ahead of its time, it gave me Metroid Prime flashbacks, though Marathon's text has better writing.
-The game does its "Are you really the hero of this story?" shtick pretty well. Instead of judging the player for playing the game, it makes the player feel like they're just being used to further the goals of others. Some of those Terminals really made me feel like a puppet, and the bits I've read in the sequel makes it seem like this is going to be a recurring theme.
-While the enemies are dumb, they're still fun to fight in many cases.

This is a good game, and I'm glad I stumbled upon it.

Sonic Robo Blast 2 has been a lot of fun, I can't lie. I like how smooth and loose it handles, it's fun just walking around the maps in the game, which can get massive and labyrinthine. It's also actually difficult, which is something I never thought I would say about a Sonic game.

I'm not big on video games, I stopped playing regularly when I was 14/15 yo. Now I only play shmups because it's easy to get into, you can finish the game in 30min, and it's so hard I don't feel bad for being shit at it. My favourites are probably TH08, TH13, Mushihimesama, and Crimzon Clover.

srb2 is just great, the 2.2.2 or whatever update was really nice and helped smooth out the early levels, hopefully they fix the egg rock
the hardest part for me was the upside down lava platforming in metal sonics race, I died sooooo many fucking times

I mostly play strategy games; 4x and the such. Previously I had a phase when I played nothing but platformers on NES. When I was younger instead I spent most of my time playing rpgs. I've always been interested in starting some cooperative shooting game like ARMA, but I suck at these type of games and I get too anxious about failing.

I mostly play tf2 but recently have been playing pso2.
pso2 is pretty great but i find that way to much content in locked behind needing a party or the storymode.
The party isn't that bad as i do have an alliance, sadly.. when it comes to grinding for exp you need to do it for HOURs and most people stop after the first two runs.
tf2 is overall pretty great. they recently got 4 new halloween maps for the halloween event and i like pretty much all of them.

I haven't been able to dig into Scream Fortress this year, but it's always a lot of fun and it brings new and old players into the game which makes the whole experience a lot more palatable. TF2 had it's time, but I'll never get bored of playing it. Speaking of which, I haven't gotten around to playing the L4D2 update either, but it caught me by surprise and it looks like they've added some amazing things.

Lately, I've been playing some older games I missed out on. Fallout 3 and the older Halo games, specifically. Fallout 3 is an absolute mess, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. Also just picked up the Robotics;Notes localization -- I have a huge soft spot for those games!

Currently playing BallisticNG and SimplePlanes. I've been having a strong inclination toward vehicle-based games, as well as a simple desire to go fast.

BallisticNG has an absurd amount of content, but you have to get good in order to see any of it.

Pioneer Space Sim. It's a FOSS game based on Elite II Frontier.
I've been trying a few space games, since it's a genre I was mostly unfamiliar with for much of my life.

I'm playing around with Open Surge; an open source Sonic-clone/game engine.
I really dig how the physics feel, and the game is very easy to modify, so I've been trying my hand at doing some game design. Right now I'm still just testing out how to make and apply assets, but it seems writing new mechanics and interactions will be pretty easy when I get to it.

I heard about people feeling a sense of horror at how small they felt while playing space games.
After getting up close and personal with a gas giant in order to scoop some fuel, I think I understand what they mean.

I've been playing the 'beta version' of an RTT game called Regiments. It's specifically a *tactics* game, it does a lot of things to reduce microing: Instead of commanding every tank, aircraft, infantry squad etc. on the battlefield you command platoon-sized 'blobs', e.g. three tanks make up one tank platoon that you can command. And then things like air and artillery strikes that basically work as special abilities with cooldowns. It's really cool, this game was definitely made for people like me who couldn't play cool RTS games like WG:RD due to being bad at microing. Looking forward to its release.

It's an endless runner, more in the vein of Canabalt than Temple Run. The game in that video, 'Run or Die', is nice and twitchy, but some of the background elements blend in to each other, causing some obstacles to be harder to see than is good.

I've been loving Sonic Frontiers, it is a great change of pace compared to the on-rails playstyle most games have been having for over a decade.
My only hopes are the game isn't a one and done and devs actually adhere to what they made here. There is a lot of potential in hands

Besides that, just hoonting in MH3U, I got back to it because I can't kill Rathalos in G-Rank and decided to hunt Jhen Mohran to make his set, which has resistance to fire and defense buffs. Surely this will be crazy helpful
