Can we take a moment to appreciate the GameCube? Hardware nearly as powerful as the Xbox and taking up a third of the space. A nearly indestructible disk-based system. One of the best analog controllers ever made. Truly an incredible system.

>One of the best analog controllers ever made.
From what I remember the stick wasn't so great and the d pad kind of sucked

Yeah, the dpad isn't impressive, but it certainly is usable, unlike the xbox360's

I remember it as being fun, but it was my first console.

The analog sticks are great as far as I'm concerned. The d-pad isn't great, but that's why I specified analog controllers. If you're playing something that requires a good d-pad, get yourself a Hori pad.

You shuoldn't have to get a third party accessory to enjoy a console.

The standard controller is good, you can play everything with it without problems. There are very few games which require heavy use of the d-pad anyways.

The gamecube was amazing.
Not only were the games great, but the gamecube also looks really great.
I loved the thing when I was a kid and still do.

I still have the purple lunchbox (and a Wii). What games should I get for it off eBay?

It depends on what you like but I can give you a list. Mind that some games can be expensive but here we go: Zelda Wind Waker, Baten Kaitos (also get the prequel if you're american - it's NA only in the West), Resident Evil 4, Mystic Heroes, PN 03, Animal Crossing, Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, F-Zero GX. There's more but they're either multiplat or not that good

Does it require a CRT?
»
14 Player 1969-12-31T17:00:00
>>13
No. Many other forms of screens accept composite and component.

I mean, will it look bad on an LCD screen?
»
16 Player 1969-12-31T17:00:00
>>15
I like being able to play my gamecube games in progressive rather than interlaced, and I think they look fine. Been playing Wind Waker that way. So, no, I don't think it'll look bad.
»
17 Player 1969-12-31T17:00:00
Man, Gamecube is great. I should crack mine out.
»
18 Player 1969-12-31T17:00:00

Let's say it won't look bad as a PS2. There are some adapters and hardware (most of it is kinda costly though) like the Framemeister that really helps playing GC in 480p but that's it.

19 Player 1969-12-31T17:00:00
Should a Wii be used if you have an LCD?
»

Many Gamecubes don't support component, but all Wiis do. As long as you can enable progressive scan, you're good.

Why nintendo can't add second z-trigger and make it compatible with new sistems?

A Wii preferably in all scenarios, and a Wii U on top of that because of the HDMI out.

>A Wii preferably in all scenarios

Why is a Wii preferable to a GC with component output on a CRT television?
»
25 Player 1969-12-31T17:00:00

GC component cables are crazy expensive.

Any Meleefags in here, by the way?

Yeah, though I prefer playing with items on. Both with and without are fine, though.

That'd be me. I just got home from a Melee weekly at my college.

It's weird how insanely overrated the GC is nowadays considering everyone hated it when it first launched. But I guess all the kids still in diapers playing Mario Sunshine for the first time must remember it fondly now in 2018

Fuck off, Nintendo. Your system sucked; stop trying to cash in on people's nostalgia.

Credit to you, you sniffed me out right away. I tried my best to pose as a genuine Gamecube enthusiast, but you immediately pegged me as someone paid by Nintendo to post on obscure imageboards to drum up enthusiasm for their discontinued, seventeen-year-old console.
