What animated movies have you liked lately? I watched Akira, and I thought the sound design and art were good.

I watched the second Little Witch Academia OVA recently. Fucking hyped for the TV series.

I've been watching some Lupin III movies recently and I really liked The Mystery of Twilight Gemini and Castle of Cagliostro. Would definitely recommend.

I gave Perfect Blue a watch a few weeks ago. Nice little film, but I found the psychological stuff tiring after a little while.

I recently watched End Of Evangelion for the first time ever after my NGE rewatch after avoiding everything NGE related for almost a decade because I didn't like the original series that much back then.
It was a really comfortable and nostalgic experience, especially now that I've come to learn to appreciate more surreal types of series' a lot more.

I liked NGE a lot. It was the second anime I ever watched.
I liked the one thing in EoE where someone said that NERV's base was only designed to defend against aliens, not against humans.

I just watched Evangelion 3.0
I enjoyed all the new content and surprises, and considered it a powerful movie. The end of Kaworu hurt just as much as it did the first time.

You wouldn't be so sad if you read the manga. He's a kitten killer.

Some day I'll read it. I think in both the show and the rebuild movies he's shown as an incredibly good person.

By the way, how did you read the manga? I haven't found any scanlations that are still online.

By the way, if you have $50 or so to spend on manga (Amazon US), the viz 3-in-one books are really good. They translate some interviews with the artist, and Asuka's Japanese and English VAs and some others I think. The pages are acid-free, I think, and really fuckin big. They keep sound effects translation in a golassary in the back so they don't fuck up the art.

The story matches up with the series for a few volumes, then it steers pretty far off course. Mini spoiler: the ending is much more hopeful. The manga took almost 20 years to finish because the mangaka (also character designer for the anime) only did it "part time".

It actually costs 100 USD or so to get all the 3-in-one books, I checked last night.
But I see.
>then it steers pretty far off course

That's awesome! That's what I really want. The more original stuff, the better.

Ah, I see. I think it's a bad idea to buy information, which is what digital copies are.
