How many changes/edits do you think they're going to add to the Netflix dub?
I'll never know because I won't watch the dub or ever acknowledge it.
I always finded dubs really boring and bad, plus it always sounds weird hearing "oni-chan" or any japa name in english
Oh man. The only dub I have ever truly enjoyed is from School Rumble. But who knows dude, at least it isn't Funimation.
>>3There's nothing wrong with dubbing as a conceptAs a matter of fact, a faithful dub where the characters sound the exact same as they do in the original and say more or less the same thing just in another language is actually more accurate to the intended experience than a sub. Don't believe me? Watch a show in your native tongue dubbed in another language but with subs of the original language. Having to read and being unable to understand the characters changes the experience way more than you'd thinkThe issue with dubs isn't the concept, it's the execution. The dubbing studios that got big when anime was at its height in the western world during the 90s through the mid-2000s were primarily aimed at kids and teens and butchered the content horribly. These studios set the standard that most dubbing studios afterwards would use, even when they dubbed shows aimed squarely at adultsI honestly think if a bunch of weebs got together and started making fandubs, it would fix the horrible state of dubbing
キタ━━━(゚∀゚)━━━!!
Only a few more hours. I just want to see how badly they fuck up 14 yr old girl voices
wonder if they'll censor the underage tiddies
imagine if this was actually real
>>9I've never understood why people get genuinely mad about shit like the death note movie. It's just a crappy adaptation. Those things happen all the timeThen again, I'm not really a huge anime guy. I mostly play Japanese games and watch American cartoons, both of which have had a fuckton of shitty adaptations. I'm guessing they aren't as common in anime?
>>10I think the death note adaptation was such an outrage because of the fact that it made something 2D into 3D. People wouldn't have been nearly as mad if it was animated.
>>10I'm a big guy into anime and the hollywood/western adaptions don't really bother me since I expect them to be shit by default just like the western stuff you mentioned. Honestly the 2016 version of Berserk and other awful 3DCG ridden shows are more of a crime against anime, than these throwaway adaptions.

>>13>I actually thought this was real until they started talking
who are you quoting?
Too cheap for Fly Me To The Moon. Big fat 0, fuck you shitflix
I'm checking for the scene where Shinji jerks off to Asuka right now
>>16It's there but he says "I'm the lowest of the low" instead of "I'm so fucked up".
So should I finally watch the second and third rebuilds now? I somehow managed to sit through the entire first movie so the new ones that actually have fresh content can't be as bad as that.
>>18The following movies take considerably more liberties and only remind of NGE in how the plot is developed rather than the story told. Unpredictable to a point it doesn't feel fresh but a completely different production.
>>19So yeah you should watch it provided you will spend some time with the community at large getting to know the ins and outs of the Rebuilds and share your experiences. It's just a 3 hour ride, nothing much. Not to mention the conclusion is coming up next year.
>>20That's why I asked. I want to finish the movies before the fourth one comes out
Welp, the new fanbase managed to be even more retarded and pretentious than the previous fanbase. I just thought kids wouldn't care about this show but I guess netflix really knows how to market their shithttps://youtu.be/ueUeMFbGq9o
>>22>>23I hate it so much oh my god I can't wait until it passes
https://youtu.be/DcmaTOkKud0
linking any youtube video made by a dedicated "youtuber" that isn't a sketch or animated should be a banable offense
I'm watching the third rebuild tonight so I don't have to avoid the teaser trailer of 3.0+1.0
Komm Suss Toddhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRMkOY9OrbUIt all returns to nothing.....
Stop necroing you dickhead
>>5No, because the director doesn't get to directly interact with the dub voice actors, so all they have to go off of is the original recording assuming they actually watch it. It's like a game of telephone. Even subs have inaccuracies, so dubs which have to take into account length of shots just compounds that issue. On top of all that, the va industry isn't taken as seriously in the west and anime dubs have a lower budget than something like a disney movie, so they're not exactly getting the cream of the crop either.
>On top of all that, the va industry isn't taken as seriously in the westIf you knew even the first thing about the western industry you'd know that's outright wrong. In some cartoons, most of the money is spent solely on voice actors.
>the va industry isn't taken as seriously in the westYou mean the US, the UK and Canada. Stop saying "the west" when you're only referring to 3 places that happen to be in the west.

I swear I just saw this posted on a certain other board...
This one is a classic.
Misato's beer farts could've stopped the angels more effectively
I find the original English dub to be a mixed bag of performances preferring Rei and Asuka in English while Gendo and Fuyutski don't sound manly or intimidating at all as they did in Japanese. And some did an unbalanced job, for example, Shinji's dub VA can't scream and Misato's voice gets scratchy when yelling.
It's a good day to post Rei.
>>42This is what Spike Spencer's Shinji screams sound like https://youtu.be/9OVv-J-LXQU?t=8
>>42>preferring Rei and Asuka in EnglishI find that very difficult to imagine. I really hate every aspect of the dub, but female characters are always the worst part.
>female characters are always the worst partThat is usually the case with English dubs.
He is paraphrasing the post he replied to.
