What do you think of this feature? >>/av/
People can upload small audio or video files that get played on the home page randomly, but only 5 every week. The 5 would be chosen by a random selection of site users every week (or every month or whatever).

Instead of waiting for feedback I just added it because I was bored, so feel free to say it sucks if you want.
Merged a gif+music clip as the first video to start it off

It only takes webm right now but it'll take other formats including just audio files too if we decide to keep the feature.

(On a side note, I'm thinking of just removing oekaki)

Why?

I'm just experimenting when I add features sometimes so I never really thought of it as anything but a trial run. It's just looking a little pointless (one reason is I realized there's no way to detect someone sending any normal image to the server as if it were oekaki), but of course I have no problem keeping it around if anyone wants.

Ah alright, I just wanted to know why is all. I enjoy it when you switch things up or experiment with a new feature.

Might as well post a Webm while I'm at it.

You can post it on that page >>/av/
Just click the "Files" link
>6.83

In case you tried uploading it already I had it set at 4mb max, but I just increased it to 12mb like the rest of the boards so it should be fine.

What I wrote here >>/meta/13/16 also applies to this thread. The feature in the OP was supposed to be removed. I just noticed some remnants were still left, but they will be removed now.

It's important to be still be willing to experiment.

Of course. I just ended up thinking those particular ideas were bad and so they were removed.
Although I think now that we're getting more traffic it would be best to keep any new ideas limited to one board or so at first to see how it goes without disrupting things too much.

"More traffic" to the order of seven people? What are the numbers like right now?
»

I feel a great sense of responsibility to those 7 users.

Honestly though, I have no idea what the numbers are. I don't have anything in place to keep track of that sort of thing, even the moderator view doesn't show anything that could be used to link 2 posts to the same user (In the future I might add something like that though but would only be turned on in spam cases to identify if it's all 1 person or many).
But the only reason I think I'd ever want to know the total number of users is if adding ads to the site became necessary.

Also, does /all/ necessarily have to encompass untitled boards? Since you can freely shitpost on untitled boards, /all/ will turn into a shit maelstrom quickly

Maybe it'd be possible to have a filter for mixed boards. At the top of /all/ you could have a little box that saves as a cookie, where you can put in boards that you don't want to see by default

>>17
I've been thinking that too. What I'll probably do is remove untitled boards from /all/ by default but they can be added back in by visiting >>/all+untitled/ or something.
>>18
You mean the untitled boards? The "mixed boards" allow you to do that already, you can visit combinations of boards or even filter them out like so >>/all-meta/ (will show all threads except /meta/ threads)

But making an actual input box for it that saves the filter could be good.

I was aware of mixed boards, but I was just thinking that having an input box would make it more convenient to use, rather than putting it as an URL all the time

I think the first one on the older thread would be nice on one board.
This one seems like a nice idea, too.
