i made a list of boards i think 4taba should have. obviously untitled boards mean we can have whatever we want but it would still be a good idea to expand the official selection.

key:
>black - board already exists

>yellow - board exists as an untitled board but should be made official

>red - board doesn't exist

most of these are self-explanatory as 4chan has them already. the only really unique ones are /im/ (internet media) and /io/ (images only). /im/ would basically be a version of /tv/ for youtubers and podcasts, as well as allowing for discussion about creating your own content. /io/ is a suggestion i saw on /qa/ a while ago and i thought it sounded neat. basically it's the opposite of a text-only board like /news/ - no words (not even in the title), only images. interesting to see what would happen

thoughts?

If we're adding all this shit, history, religion, and culture all deserve boards.
Also, music, food, and traditional games.
Comics would be their own, too.

Though, really, we don't need so many boards. We don't have tons of posts, as is.

I'd expand our /lit/ to include history, religion, and culture, add /tg/, add /ft/, add /io/, and add /vn/ for visual novels.

sounds good

niche stuff should be kept to untitled boards unless it gets a large userbase

We shouldn't add too many boards right now, while /all is slower than /po/.
Even /a/ and /ma/ being separate seems a bit much, though it'd be good if we were faster.

I think we definitely need a /mu/, and if the demand is there I guess /ft/ wouldn't hurt, but I'm skeptical about what kind of posters /tv/, /co/, /im/, and /3d/ would bring in. Maybe it's just my opinion, but I like the idea of keeping 4taba as an anime-centric chan that branches out into some interests rather than a cesspool like reddit. Not saying adding your board would turn 4taba into a cesspool, but I just worry about how it would shift the chan's focus.

I also really like the idea of /life/, I definitely support this one so long as it doesn't devolve into /r9k/ or /soc/.

You're gonna have to elaborate on /io/, is it meant to be like /ho/ but without text? I don't really see the point.

/life/ would be /adv/.
/io/ would be fun.
If 4/tv/ and 4/co/ hadn't become so shit, I'd be fine with those, but it'd be best not to try our luck, I think.
/im/ should only even be thought of as possible as a containment board on 4chan, it'd be terrible here where we don't need it.
/3d/ would be fine, just porn.
I agree on /ft/ and /mu/ being needed, and >>4.

>/io/ would be fun

It'd be an interesting experiment, but I think if it is added it should stay as an untitled board. It could be pretty fun seeing how threads would develop, but it's just not substantive enough in my opinion to be featured on the front page.
>/3d/ would be fine, just porn

I dunno, man, 3D porn brings in a lot of unwanted traffic from the other chans. It'd just be a lot of dumps.
Other than that I agree with you, though.

Overall, we should add these boards slowly rather than all at once so that we can make sure things don't get too crazy all at once.

This site is fine as it is. What's the point of adding even more boards if nobody is going to post on them? Just make untitled board if you want to make another useless dead board.

>If 4/tv/ and 4/co/ hadn't become so shit, I'd be fine with those, but it'd be best not to try our luck, I think.
/tv/ would be better split up into untitled boards for each show now that I think about it. That way there'd be a lot less shitposting/circlejerking. To reduce bandwidth I guess they could be combined into /tvg/ but I don't think that's really necessary considering how tiny this place is.

I don't have any problems with 4/co/ but I can see why people would dislike it.

I came here to talk about Bhutanese scrimshaw with a bunch of loners on the internet, finding out their political opinions won't make this site any better.

Because /pol/ got rowdy and attracted so many redditors and idiots.
I don't care about the beliefs, but actively searching to add users and making colonies is bad.

There's nothing wrong with making suggestions. If you think some are bad ideas, do what I did and give your own opinion. You don't really want nothing to change at all, do you?

Admin here, I actually think you have the right idea about that.

If /pol/ was just used by people who love politics itself from more of a "political science" point of view rather than the "politically incorrect" of 4chan then it would probably feel more like a "hobby" board and could be decent.
»
26 Anonymous 1969-12-31T17:00:00
>>25
Adding to this.
I don't think a /pol/ is something we really want right now though. I'm just saying that if I ever did add one we would probably want to try and keep is as "hobbyist" as possible.
»
27 Anonymous 1969-12-31T17:00:00

Definitely a different name, some obscure word for politics, explicitly state that it's for discussion of political systems, nations, interactions, Etc., perhaps.

I suggest combining /a/ and /ma/. Anime and manga are obviously naturally connected, so it seems weird to separate them into two boards, especially while we're still small and gaining traffic.

True, but that's not the same as actually combining them together in a single board.
»
36 Anonymous 1969-12-31T17:00:00
Let's not add a whole bunch of boards right off the bat. Far too many smaller textboards and imageboards have died because of a tiny population being spread out across a multitude of boards.

From a personal, selfish point of view; I'm very glad a politics board was never added. I've yet to see anything be touched by current politics and not be irrevocably ruined. There's a reason Politics was considered taboo in polite conversation, and it seems even impolite conversation cannot handle politics.

Completely agreed, and you're not being selfish at all, you're being rather reasonable.

Yea, I'd rather not have politics either. Politics tend to lead to non-comfy conversations.
Also, I'm actually quite content with the boards we currently have. If you were to add another board, a music or literature would be fine.
