this site seems to go by a post count system more reminiscent of 2ch ie each thread has its own post count which always starts at 1. on the other hand each thread has its own unique thread number, increasing by 1 per new thread. this removes the ability to get large GETs within threads (maybe trips or quads at the most idk the post limit) but in turn allows for large thread number GETs. won't this encourage GETfags to spam threads instead of posts within threads? on the other hand, new threads are far less common than posts, even on busy 4chan boards, making a GET relatively trivial and reducing the incentive. what are your thoughts on this? of course this is all assuming the site picks up enough steam to get past 1000 threads on one board lmao. (PS who GET otaku here?)

The board watcher was actually made with that sort of thing in mind. Not gets, but just thread spam or the fact that there's always going to be people not liking certain threads on certain boards.

A lot of the complaining might have to do with the fact that they have to see those threads over and over as they get bumped.
But if you use the board watcher you would basically just see each thread once and either decide to open it or dismiss it and never have to see it again. So hopefully that'll help with such problems.
I'm going to update the board watcher so it doesn't have to stay open to get new threads like it currently does.

I don't have any problem with gets or anything. It just seems kind of silly that you need a whole bunch of javascript for things like backlinks and mouse hover link pop-ups to see who is talking to who (even when the post being quoted is only 1 or 2 posts up) because the numbers are so large that it becomes impractical to actually read them and immediately know who's post it was. Yet when you look at boards like 2channel they seem to do just fine without all those fancy features because the post numbers are simple.
So I decided to go with that system to try and keep things simple and light on the javascript.

Oh, I also don't think I've mentioned this anywhere, but when threads fall off the last page there's a 24 hour period before they get deleted (and they can still get bumped to the top of the board for visibility during that time) so that should also help since thread spam won't just instantly kill off a bunch of threads.
