I refuse to sexualize moe characters.

What about you?

I largely agree.
I personally find it off-putting when an artists feels the need to shove a cute character's crotch and rear in to my eye holes, for multiple reasons, but mainly because it's just unpleasant. I don't want to fap to everything I see, sometimes that warm fuzzy feeling is enough for me.

I don't usually find them sexually arousing, but I still don't mind sexualizing them because it can sometimes make them even cuter.

I would agree, but it depends as not all sexual situations are equal. Certainly two moe characters making love to each other is cute, but I can't say the same for a moe character getting brutally raped.

I personally can't get in to that, since it's often so blatant and forced. I can't find a cute character spread eagle with her crotch at the screen cute, nor can I find stuff like panty shots and such cute. For me cuteness requires not only a beautiful subject, but purity of intent to a degree. If I get the sense that a picture is meant to be fap bait, I regard it as that and not as a cute picture.

The line for me is something like this. The way the characters are posed and the image is framed gives off the sense that the artist wanted to tickle that lewd sense in the audience, but it's modest enough that the cuteness of it has more strength.

It depends hugely on the character and image for me. I don't necessarily think cuteness and lewdness are mutually exclusive, sometimes being sexual is an aspect of a character's cuteness.

I think it might largely depend on how you interpret the perspective of the image. For example, say there's an image of a cute character taking a bath. Unless you're interpreting it as if there's a cameraman present and they're posing for a photo then I don't think it takes their innocence away at all.

>I can't find a cute character spread eagle with her crotch at the screen cute

Sometimes this sort of thing can capture their innocence too though. Maybe they sleep in the nude and just ended up in that position without even thinking about it.

I guess the only way a lewd image would ever really bother me is if I thought the artist didn't really care about the character, or whatever material they're from, but just drew a popular character in a lewd scene for attention or something.
But as long as it's actually a character they like then I don't see anything wrong with it.

I dont really care all that much about the original character when looking at ero shit. If its good ero, its good ero, it doesnt reflect on the actual original character at all by itself. If that sort of thing really is something the character would do, then it fits them, but if its not, it doesnt, and theres no real connection aside from the design.

If they're being brutally raped by another moe character it works for me.

Technically there IS a cameraman: the artist. Images do communicate after all, and one thing I've noticed about lewd Japanese artists is that not only will they gladly throw subtlety to the wind, but they also draw from similar idea banks. I've seen certain innocent looking panty shots so many times that any sense of innocence the character has is immediately washed away when I see the pose.
You can totally have stuff like innocent bath scenes, but it has to be framed and composed in a certain way to keep it from being titillation. Afterall, baths are the go-to place for easy-peasy service.

This is not to poo-poo on what tickles your heart. I've met plenty of people who regard pictures I would label fapbait as being cute instead. We all have our buttons, and the strings of our hearts are tuned differently.

I find some art to be simultaneously cute and sexy, however, I'm not sure if it could be moe: I'm not into loli. I suppose it could be. Quite often, artists try to portray ``nerdy'' characters in such a fashion.

if its not rape and the girl seems to enjoy it, I don't see a problem

You seriously think people posting fanart on pixiv are trying to "bait" people into masturbating? The West really has no concept of sincerity and enthusiasm anymore. Everything is seen as some kind of plot.

>You seriously think people posting fanart on pixiv are trying to "bait" people into masturbating?

You think people who make art don't aim to have the audience feel anything? That's a base level of "manipulation" that's required to make media work, so much that I shy away from even calling it manipulation.
I specified lewd artists in my earlier post because I'm well aware that not all artwork on pixiv is fap material, and that is not the intent of all fanartists. That would be very unfair to lump everyone in Japan as horn dogs, and it's something that I see enough of to be annoyed by.

That said if the image in question takes pains to push a character's sexy bits in the audience's face (Especially if said sexy bits are drawn with greater detail and care than the character's face), I think it's fair to label the image lewd in intent.

I avoid it a little bit for known characters, but not by much. If it's an original character or something from a series I've never seen then I don't feel any conflict at all.
I find cute to be very arousing and I especially love chibi stuff, but lewd chibi stuff is extraordinarily rare.

>Especially if said sexy bits are drawn with greater detail and care than the character's face

That's the normal 2D aesthetic, though. There's a saying that every line on a face adds age.
