Greetings. My name is _______. I like to draw things.
I especially have a soft spot for imageboard-inspired emoticon-ish drawings for reasons even I fail to know. I felt like posting some scribbles on here because the spot seemed cozy and quiet. Making an unlisted board since there doesn't seem to be room for my sort of tomfoolery on the others.

Thanks for the kind words, Anons.

I'd like to say that Mechazawa is too cool for the message I was aiming it, but his design was simple and iconically Japanese robot enough to user. The image is about stuff I saw on /qa/, goofy spam wars between frogposters and weebs who were known throughout the board to user bots to mass bump threads and slide the board. There was some speculation that some weeb/frogs interactions were by the same people who were playing both sides, thus the picture.

>>8
I can't help it, my artistic sense demands noses and declares dot-noses lazy design! But seriously though, I do put a lot of emphasis on noses in my drawings, maybe a bit too much here and there. I just don't want to fall in to just drawing a dot or a line or nothing at all.

I just don't like how lumpy they are. I mean, I have a big nose myself, but it's not to unattractively lumpy.

Got carries away with this one. Wanted to make a confused maid, and the expression reflected that in the line art, but it got lost as I colored. She even looks a bit smug with the way she's posed. Oh well.

> Why aren't you drawing something other than maids in that outfit? Say shinobi for example.

I guess I just find drawing maids fun. I've mainly been doing stuff related to imageboards, /qa/ in particular, because I wanted to make a bunch of images I and others could use for posting. Why I thought it a good use of time to draw up a bunch of elaborate reaction images is anypne's guess, it may just be I don't put much value on my work. I do know that I like drawing and I like sharing it around.

They kind of do, so I guess it fits well enough.
That and I wanted to keep the general designs nice and simple. Putting a bunch of frills and ribbons on them would make things less consistent since I'll forget where each frill and ribbon is supposed to go.

Or I'm just lazy, could be that too.

Scribbled this in response to an anon.
Been spending a lot more time in the sketchbook to try to polish up my drawings and make them more consistent ever since I got my pen tablet. Doing a quick, <20 minute phone doodle like this was actually pretty refreshing. I do want to do something more polished and elaborate to satisfy myself, but I should probably focus more on just getting more stuff out there.

Scribbling and experimenting.

Wanted to try and break down what makes up my maids, how to build them, and how to keep them nice, simple, and easily recognizable in a thumbnail while still having differing looks, stances, and personality. You can say it's a bid at understanding my own drawings and how I can bend them for later use.

I was pretty surprised at the amount of positive feed back the last drawing got here, but I guess it's because I was just aiming for basic cuteness rather than messing around and making characters look more unique despite wearing uniform. I guess you guys wouldn't mind if I went full throttle in to just drawing pretty rather than cartoony, yes?

So apparently, Infinite Painter for mobile has the functionality to record and export videos of your drawing progress. While this piece isn't spectacular, or even meant to be, I though it was neat to have a progress video of it, and decided to upload it for fun.

Most of the drawings here are reactions to posts or types of posts. Some are more obviously this than others, but nearly all of them either stem from a post, or are partially inspired by a sort of reaction image.
Despite the inspiration, I try to avoid just copying stuff, since I don't find it fun to just make a maid version of X popular meme image.

No, I have an LG Stylo 2. It's a large mid-range phone that comes with a small, mesh-tip stylus. It does have a pretty sensitive screen though, as I saw when I bought a high precision capacitive stylus. The new stylus was not only better than the built in one, but the phone seems to sense it better than my own finger. Since it's not an active stylus, I have to do without things like proper pen pressure, tilt detection, and other perks fancier pen phones have.

That said, Infinite Painter seems to have some kind of weird workaround that allows the software to sense pressure in capacitive stylus', and even in my thumb. I was really dumbfounded when I first so I could press down hard and the program would pick it up. It really is a neat app.

That's interesting, I wonder how it works. Google doesn't yield any answers, but some people suggest it's estimating pressure based on the raw input - the actual size of the input device touching the screen. But that doesn't seem right, considering you're using a dumb stylus, and that's a thin point. Huh. Nice drawing as always, anyway.

I much prefer this to everything else you've shared. Less noise, much cleaner--simple but good understanding of theory. You should make a second frame where she's standing still and oscillate between the two to give it some squigglevision; it might make the animation feel more organic in a way that would complement the cartoony, pronounced outline.

Thanks for the kind words!
I could only get my lines so clean when working with my phone. Even when putting a good deal of effort in to tidying it up I would miss a bunch of stuff, and it would become really apparent when I viewed the image on my laptop. For the earlier stuff I didn't really care how messy they were, but getting more solid lines became a priority as time went on.
Since getting a pen tablet, I could more effectively clean up my work, which I took advantage of for the latest one, and >>23 . I wanted to do a few small animations before this latest one, but trying to do something so involved on a phone was just plain impractical. It's more than likely doable, but it wouldn't be fun at all.

An anon suggested I do a maid with animal ears, so I designed this girl a while back. For some reason I took a shine to this design, and wanted to draw her again. I also wanted to play around with the rough, charcoal tools in MyPaint, since I enjoyed that look. One thing I found while drawing and redrawing this is that it is difficult to show body language with the dresses. Poses that I previously thought were a bit too much were completely hidden with the garb on. As such, I took care to push more gesture, to make the drawing look more interesting.

Got me in one. Would have blown me away if you posted Precious Moments. While my stuff is pretty rooted in Anime, Cutesy stationary stuff like Strawberry are things thay remain in the back of my mind as things to learn from for a 'Western' aesthetic that's still cute. I have the occasional thought of doing stationary, but I do not think such things are going to be very popular. Then again making your own images for posting is a niche likely made up of a handful of people including myself, and some folks seem to like it so it could be beneficial to give it a shot.

I can see where you are coming from there. newShortcake is a "Friendship is Magic" like redesign with all the baggage that implies. She looks next to nothing like the Raggedy Anne-like OG Shortcake, or even the children's book-like 03 Shortcake. She's more like a fashionista, kind of like Barbie, though thankfully not as absurd and Bratz or Monster High. If she had a show that blew up like FiM did, I can see it getting a similar fanbase of waifu fanatics.

Also mentioning Yokohama Shopping Trip as another of my inspirations, because it's great and deserves way more attention as the patrician's cute-girl SOL comic.

Soft coloring is something I always did with colored pencils when I was younger. It stuck with me for years, and I often tried to emulate that when I did digital drawing. It's been a long time since I touched a colored pencil though, so newer output with them is weak. Just means I need to do more fundamentals.

>>72
I have a thing for smaller sites, and I've been planning on posting more stuff on various tiny communities on the net. I feel more at ease and less like a speck on them, and conversation around each doodle is far better on places like this as compared to DeviantArt. Of course there are tons of reasons not to use that site, and some Fediverse sites like Diaspora and SocialHome seem to be very friendly to visual media so I don't have to.

As a random side note: I've somehow lost enough touch with other artists that I've begun to be confused by the very concept of 'Original Characters'. They seem to be cartoon characters sans the cartoon to go with them, which kind of defeats the purpose. Instead of a story or even an idea of a story, there's a biography about a non-existent Shounen Jump high school character, assuming they're not a furry, then they a Shounen Jump high school character who has a dog for a head.
Perhaps I'm thinking on it too much.

I'll keep that in mind as I go. I intentionally put a lot of emphasis on the nose earlier since I observed in a lot of drawings I looked at that they often ceased to exist, and I over corrected in mine as a result. I still don't think it's a good idea to completely omit body parts for aesthetic purposes, especially considering that doing so often leads to snout nose profile shots, which I'm sure everyone hates.

I've been relatively secretive about my stuff, but with the internet being what it is, I'm not surprised if you saw something I drew at some point. I always hoped that at some point I would be able to draw unique stuff for each site I visited, but I haven't been using my time properly for it.

I'm simply too stubborn to give up!

That image you just posted was only 1 MB due to the relative lack of colour or detail, I'm sure taba-tan's got enough to store it. As a user, I'd prefer to get the original images.

It just occured to me that I should really be shrinking these images before I post them. I don't think Taba-man has infinite space for uncompressed images. I'll make sure to shrink stuff in the future.

Peace.

Since I have them laying on my computer doing nothing, here's a few scribble I made while surfing 4chan.

I think this is fully recovered now.

There are about 40 threads that were overwritten, but will still be retrievable and placeable on this site because of the 3 separate databases that are downloadable at >>>/ho/10
