So far, I watched Occult;Nine - I don't like it much but it feels different, and I'm interested in the direction it's gonna go in (hopefully it's not a second Zvezda). I have yet to watch Hibike's first season, despite its' praise by /a/nons.

I might pick up Yuri; I know it's not correct to judge series by the studios they're released by, but I have faith in MAPPA.

Long Riders.. I don't really know. I am a long-distance cyclist myself, but I hated it. It feels like it's aimed at people who just wanted cute girls doing their stuff in a different situation (I have to say, though, New Game wasn't half bad). "I forgot to eat, and I rode a lot, tee-hee~!". What was the name of that other cycling anime, anyway? I heard there were going to be two of them this fall.

What didn't you like about Occultic;Nine? I felt that it succeeded in introducing so many characters in one episode, it never skipped a beat and slipped in a few easily half-way solved mysteries.

Nothing.
I still have to watch my bookmarks of the previous 2 seasons and there's no show that caught my attention this season.

I'll just ask around which shows were good when this season is over.

I guess the characters being OVERLY genki, and the damn breast character. I watched Yuri and it was a really, really pleasant - even though I am not a fudanshi. The character interactions are pretty interesting, the direction (both visual and written), and as I expected, MAPPA didn't disappoint much in the visuals department. Yes, it looks a tad worse than ZnT, but I believe that is due to the simpler artstyle they're using. The backgrounds and the general atmosphere are very well done, too. The scene where Yakov and Viktor part feels straight out of a classic russian drama movie.

There isn't really a specific genre that I like the most. With the exception of harem I'm kind of an all-around type when it comes to preferences. And while I don't watch them much I really enjoy a good comedy anime like Azumanga Daioh or Cromartie High School every once and a while.

I love mecha anime.
I love giant robots beating the shit out of each other, or little robots that zip around and zap each other.

It's good to branch out and appreciate all kinds of different anime though.

I think a lot of people dismiss potentially enjoyable shows on the basis of it being "moe"
They see a few cute girls on the cover and instantly assume that it's all the show has to offer.

>>2
I'm watching votoms for the first time and it's fucking sick. I adore the rusty and worn out look everything has. Like in episode 2 where Chirico takes a nap in that old busted AT they just left lying around.

"Moe" isn't a genre

25 Anonymous 1969-12-31T17:00:00
I don't have an affinity or dislike for any particular genres. If it's well-done or is interesting in some way, I'll probably enjoy it, no matter its genre. I don't watch anime particularly often, though.

Who /m/ here?
Discuss mecha anime here.
What mecha anime have you been watching?

I've been working through all of the stuff Ryousuke Takahashi directed that looks good. So far I've seen Dougram and just finished Layzner.
Layzner is a really cool show, but it has a very rushed ending because one of the sponsors got sued. There's a weird split between the shows two halves too. The first half is about aliens trying to trick the USSR and America into nuking each other, and the second half is Fist of the North Star with gundams.

1 Anonymous 1969-12-31T17:00:00
hey you guys i started watching anime again and marathoned Psycho Pass yesterday. man what a ride, really had me on my toes. though i feel that the second season was just the first one rehashed except it was shorter, you had a new villan and this little family drama with the sibyl system. who is to blame for it? the second season's script was made by someone else and there was a different studio doing it.

anyway, at first i thought it was ``just'' going to be another cyberpunk anime that shows how evil and dystopian the society they live in is and that it should make us reflect on the way we live our lifes. but then this makishima guy appeared and it turned out to be more of a detective konan thing rather than something sociocritical. another thing that i found interesting is that this is an example of a series in which we one, observe the story from the evil side and two

the evil side wins for a change. now, you could argue about the Sibyl system being bad. Point is you usually observe cyberpunk animes from the oppressed peoples point of view instead of the POV of the oppressors.

i'm way to lazy to write some sort of review for this but it was great. seconds season per se was also ok but not was good as the first one. i still have to watch the movie.

ok so i watched the movie and it was a way over the top action thing.. nothing like the anime and especially nothing like S1. almost like a holywood-esque pure action movie... i don't know what to think. it didn't live up to the series.
