We need fresh blood for fresh discussion.
We should advertise. But how?

>>20 But this site is literally both. It's not properly an imageboard any more than it's properly a textboard, because you can make imageless threads.
Also the site has changed a lot. It used to be that we could make text-only threads where posting images was prohibited. And I mean, the only real difference between imageboards and textboards is the images. Other than that it's the "feel" of it, and I think this site has more of a textboard "feel" than your average imageboard does.

I see that both Kissu and Kotatsu fulfill a niche that is not on the imageboard sphere.
I'm going to be opening a blog where I discuss my direction and mindset.

Where are you seeing 90s nostalgia on 4-ch? There's some 00s melancholia on the internet boards since the whole place is one of the few remaining ones on the internet where you can freely talk to ghosts from a bygone era.

It's a relic of a different time. Inertia alone guarantees there'll be no change or consolidation. bps doesn't delete spam, and the last new thing was 5 years ago when the now defunct image board was added.

I've seen many friends, family, and people get irrevocably screwed by medicine than it actually helping. The mental health industry is a lie that just feeds you pills to dull your senses, or introspect further on your problem or suffering.

over-diagnosis doesn't rule out that medication is a helpful tool for things like anxiety and attention issues.

Sometimes I wish YouTube wasn't such a solid hub for long form tutorials and lectures on so many subjects. It's really useful when looking to learn stuff, but it's so easy to get distracted, and the distractions themselves are rarely anything great.
»
4 Anonymous 2020-08-31T01:20:13
I, too, wish there was a mirror of carefully curated longform videos, but what can you do?
»
5 Anonymous 2020-09-03T15:58:38
>>3
youtube has become so bad you can usually learn more by reading some ancient lecture slides for five minutes than an hour long video.
videos always boil down complex ideas into naive talking points using only intuitive reasoning.
it is patronizing to someone that put any effort into learning, and enlightening for zero-agency people that "fucking love science".
It has a dangerous spill-over effect where if you try searching other parts of the web you end up finding lots of the same garbage repeated by people that want to be authorities in their gay ass community.
I call it the "wired" phenomenon, where you get some mid-wit woman host reading from a script, washed-up "authorities" as guests, pandering/quirky attitude (2009 memes XD), high production value, lots of subtle advertising, and minimal substance.

6 Anonymous 2020-09-03T16:50:56

Of course the most popular stuff is surface level garbage. It's simply what the majority of people are willing to consume. I'm surprised people are still surprised the lowest common denominator is, in fact, the lowest common denominator.
»
7 Anonymous 2020-09-03T17:04:25
It depends. The stuff I'm drawn to is usually by people who have low production values and may not actually know anything about AV. It's often dry content, but the speaker is earnest. Professor Messer has decent production, but he's also very straight to the point and dry in his lecturing.

Of course, there's always MIT Coursework and the like as an alternative.

Associating one subdomain with one port is just archaic. We should've developed a protocol that runs on port 1 or wherever for port/service negotiation years ago.

--> I WANT TO TALK TO YOUR WEB SERVER
<-- 80 OKAY, CHECK OUT PORT 80 !
or
<-- 0 I DON'T HAVE WEB SERVER

Posting online is weird, because when you're in a community that discourages low-effort and non-genuine posts, it gets harder to sustain a community.
Sometimes I think of things that I find would be good topics to talk about randomly throughout the day and put it in a "possible posts" file.
Post more Lum!

>because when you're in a community that discourages low-effort and non-genuine posts, it gets harder to sustain a community.

What I like about 4taba is that it discourages the latter but not the former. It's a place where you can just kind of post whatever and then go about your day. It's super chill and casual without going into outright shitposting territory

Searching for imageboards is hard, because there is no convinient list with imageboard. I mean, why would you want to visit something you don't like? It would bad for everyone, imageboard users, because they would be pissed off by your behavior, and you, because you don't really like the place.
This is why I've made an imageboard list, which allows you to describe common acitivity and things you would like to have on your board, and decribe activity and things you don't want to see on your imageboard.

Also, I've updated my imageboard list.
Now you can see all imageboards we have in the database.
http://electroboard.ga

Consider adding your imageboard there. It is free.
