I watched the first three episodes on toonami, then years pass and I am completely obsessed with anime. Long story short, I find the series again and lets just say I couldn't handle it. Most of the new fans from netflix are mostly young adults that have already been aware of the show's existence for years so I doubt it's had the same impact on them; but to find a show I watched on Toonami and it being the most mind fucking anime without really even being too gory, was huge.

What is the reason?
Sad days but okay, the internet is no longer suitable as a free platform. It would be nice if we had a medium that wasn't so heavily influenced by large corporations and government.

>Unfortunately, recent legislative changes in the Netherlands, confirmed by our host, has made it impossible to keep the status quo going. While it may have been possible to move the necessary servers to some other country with more lenient laws, at this point in time it's probably a game of whack-a-mole, so even if I wanted to attempt it, the aforementioned tendon injury makes it impossible for me to play that game.

Oh I thought it was sort-of mandatory for kids to learn that. At least where I'm from the only kids that can't ride are disabled. School trips in primary school are often done on bicycle too.

Depends on where you live, and not just what country you live in, but what area you live in in that country. I'm American, and where I grew up we had a bicycle safty camp that everyone sent their kids to so they could learn to ride their bikes properly. I moved to a different part of the country when I grew up and where I live now there's nothing of the sort

I'm currently reading Catch-22, and it is quickly becoming my favorite book out of the low number of them I've read. I've read some Goodreads reviews of how some don't like the non-chronological style, but I find it makes it more interesting to read and it somehow just flows better in my opinion. It also reminds me of my own shitty ability to tell stories or explain things.

I've always preferred non-linear storytelling. Anything overly linear starts feeling weirdly tiring as the story moves along, if that makes any sense

As a matter of fact, I've always been drawn to avant-garde shit way more than traditional storytelling, even as a kid. I don't know why, I just find weird shit to be way more fun

First I'm seeing it. It's cute.

Not sure what this thread is really about, but my guess is it has to do with it being popular for undesirable reasons?
I find the only real solution to that problem is to just stop paying attention to it, and to the people involved. Hating things because you don't like the way/reason others enjoy them is just as bad as enjoying things for the wrong reasons.
2 sides of the same coin. Easier to just let it all go.

Well some of the stuff you're talking about boils down to intelligence. I don't think you can really have a very high standard for that online.
But the question about why they don't at least get tired of it, is very valid.
»
6 Anonymous 2019-07-06T17:18:14
>>1
I'm not disagreeing, but can you give an example? It sounds like you might have encountered a very specific scenario instead of just the usual modern day internet argument.
»
7 Anonymous 2019-07-06T18:19:45
>>6
No specific scenario - just my observations over the years. Hating someone for enjoying something that hurts no one, hating someone for their writing style, hating someone for their opinion on an unimportant matter in the grand scheme of things, hating someone for their humor, hating someone for their nationality, hating someone for being rich or poor, hating someone for their art or writing and so on. These things don't matter at all yet so much attention is given to them. Worse than that, people want to hurt others over them.

It's not an internet-only thing mind, I've observed these things throughout school when I was a child.
Anonymous (Sun)Jul 07 2019 08:23:30
That's both true and false depending on the perspective. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anonymous (Sun)Jul 07 2019 00:37:27
There are things worth being negative about; these are not them.
Anonymous (Sun)Jul 07 2019 00:27:55
Without the negative there cannot be anything positive, such is life in a duality based existence.
»
8 Anonymous 2019-07-07T06:27:02
Hatred is fine when it's turned toward something productive. It's not easy to devote attention to the things that supposedly do matter. I think it's better than being dead inside. People simply live and breathe different values, and that's something normalfags will never ever get. The problem is when you insert in personal philosophy instead of taste and it quickly gets political.

I've always found getting upset or hating people for trivial reasons to be rather silly, and I think, as far as online is concerned, the overarching metajoke has always been to mock the absurdity of such trivial vitriol (your waifu/anime/vidya is a SHIT etc). At least, that's always been my sense of things. I've always been a really easygoing person, and spent time with other easygoing people, and we always pretended to get upset and outraged at silly things as a sort of mockery of uptight people. I have noticed a lot of tension in the air online and even in real life, of late, and I have to say, I don't understand it. I think you should strive to find easygoing people to associate with, and try to establish tone. There are still people out there that are taking it easy.

If you really think that behavior is actual trannies then it sounds to me like it's you who is taking everything too seriously.
Why do so many people today honestly think actual trannies make up even 0.1% of the population on any site you use? I know it can be hard to understand that today, because the default attitude IS to take everything seriously, but they're just fucking around anon.

Please read the subcomment here >>21 and can we PLEASE not turn 4taba into another social media shithole?
At least try to consider that, as I said, maybe you've gotten it backwards and it's you who is taking things you see online too literally.

Maybe the problem is we actually don't have PSA's on not trusting the internet anymore. Remember when we actually used to have them?
I remember commercials on TV literally saying not to give out personal information and not to blindly trust anyone online. And I remember almost every major site that had a sign-up having some notice about protecting yourself.

Hell, even in online games we had
>Warning: Experience may change during online play

Anyone remember those? lol

I blame big data farming business like Google and Facebook for the change really. They realized it's FAR more lucrative to teach people the opposite.
When people take everything at face value and "fight" things they dislike instead of joining in as a joke, then you know exactly where they stand on any issue, and that's better for data farming them.
