It's the volume of the screamer.

It isn't dependent on the website to have that functionality, it should be default.

Have any threads died, yet? Is there an archive? How many threads can there be before threads are started to be pushed off? What's the bump limit? The image limit?
If there isn't an archive, I'd recommend adding a week-long one.

I'd like an archive better, so I can finish reading a thread that dies, if I don't finish it before it does.
»
4 Anonymous 1969-12-31T17:00:00
150 is the limit, but threads get marked for deletion instead of deleted right away, so they can still be posted in for a while.

5 Anonymous 1969-12-31T17:00:00

1 Anonymous 1969-12-31T17:00:00
Is there a specific time zone this board follows, it is difficult to determine when something was posted when it says it was posted five hours from now. Also would it be possible to localize posting times for each user?

Originally we had a rule where the "unofficial boards" were
>not for creating a home for outside material and exist for the targeted demographics of the official boards

which of course would also require that things like this could be deleted from official boards as well.

But it seemed people didn't like having rules like that on a small site so I removed them.

Please give me your input.
I think I want to add the following global rules back:
* Certain inappropriate images (depending on the board) can be deleted by mods, for example furry or gore or 3D porn on boards like /a/.
* Unofficial boards are for the user interests of the main boards, not to create places for any content you want.

What do you guys think? Personally I think the first rule is definitely needed or else you'll just get furry, porn, and gore spam on basically any board, and I think it's simple enough that it shouldn't cause problems since it's fairly basic and only about deleting the image not the entire post.

But what about the second rule?
One possibility is to just not show threads from unofficial boards on /all/ and let people use them for anything (legal). Or should we keep the interests of unofficial boards limited to those of the official boards?

What about an account system where users login with a #tripcode? The tripcode could also work as a capcode on their board that shows their name as "Mod".

Users don't control boards. The untitled boards are an experimental feature that was just supposed to be supplemental to the existing boards. For example if there was an event going on of interest to some board, say comiket, I thought they could just move over to another custom board to discuss it and share files instead of making general threads.

They weren't supposed to be like 8ch's user created boards at all.
Although they seem to be causing more confusion than anything so I might just get rid of them.

i mean we haven't exactly had a board get flooded with something yet

Why not go all the way to a tagging system? Effectively threads could be on more than one "board".

So a series that's both anime and manga could have tags for both, plus maybe a tag for the genre or even the series itself.

To avoid spamming, it would make sense to limit the total "popularity" of tags chosen, so a thread could only have something like 2-3 major tags plus a few minor ones.

You'd also want some JS to suggest common tags, and maybe a list of common "synonyms" that get automatically merged/replaced/whatever by the server.

2 Anonymous 1969-12-31T17:00:00
Because the very first person to ever post on this site other than me spammed like 10 identical threads in 5 seconds to teach me a lesson on not having post cooldowns.
Blame them.
